Spiritual Simplicity

It’s our nightly conversation, my grandson and I sharing about our thoughts for the day and beginning our prayer time.  Tonight’s a little different – his Auntie Tiff enters the equation.  He feels the need to talk to her and gives her a call on Skype. During the Skype conversation with her, he tells her that God just left our house and was on His way to her and He’s bringing Jesus.  My daughter and I both laughed but he had a stern look on his face as to say – I’m not playing.  At that point, the bedroom light began to flicker and my grandson’s response to that was that must be the Holy Spirit!  Again, we chuckled, not to discredit what he was feeling but more about his openness to express it.

Mark 10: 13-16 reads, “Allow the children to come to Me–do not forbid or prevent or hinder them–for to such belongs the kingdom of God. 15Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive and accept and welcome the kingdom of God like a little child [does] positively shall not enter it at all.  16And He took them [the children up [b]one by one] in His arms and [[c]fervently invoked a] blessing, placing His hands upon them. (Amplified)

Childlike faith – do we understand and embrace it?  My grandson began to speak that night with assurance that God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit were present with us.  He spoke with Faith in God!  He said that God was in the ceiling with Jesus and he beckoned that they would both come down and they did.  He felt that the Holy Spirit came because everybody else was there. I so love the sincerity of what he was sharing, if you weren’t aware of God’s presence, you would have been that night.  As we continued to talk even after finishing his conversation with his Auntie, he just kept telling me, “God was going from our house to another house – showing up to check on people and make things okay.”  I smiled and my spirit began to leap.  My grandson was encouraging me!

Have you really spiritualized the simple things in life or better yet, gotten the view of a child as to what God is doing?  Act 2:17 states, “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.” (NIV)  What I experienced with my grandson was purely Spiritual Simplicity. God was revealing Himself to me through a 3-year-old, allowing me to see that as we are in the last days – His Word is life to those who believe and receive!
