It’s Saturday morning and I’m up with no real agenda for the day – but my spirit is full as God is speaking. The truth is that over the last few days, the Lord has been reminding me that we need to be expecting. We all need to be expecting the GREAT! We ALL do!
Expectation by definition means: 1. to look forward to; regard as likely to happen; anticipate the occurrence or the coming of; 2. to look for with reason or justification; 3. Informal . to suppose or surmise; guess: I expect that you are tired from the trip; 4. to anticipate the birth of (one’s child) (dictionary.com)
The context in which I feel the Lord is dealing with us is this: He wants us to be looking forward to something; not just a tangible thing but the manifestation of His power to heal, deliver and set free.
There are several writings in the Bible that speak to the concept of expectation. The one that jumped up in my spirit first was the woman with the issue of blood. The account comes from Luke 8: 42-48 reads, “But as He went, the multitudes thronged Him. 43 Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any, 44 came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped.45 And Jesus said, “Who touched Me?”When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes throng and press You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me? 46 But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.” 47 Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately. 48 And He said to her, “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.” The long and short of what is displayed here is that “Thought +Action+Opportunity = Manifestation”.
So let’s just get to the bottom line of the spirit of expectation that the Lord wants from us. He wants us to expect Him to move on our behalf in every area of our lives. He wants us to expect to be used by Him (be willing). He wants us to expect to see atmospheres change when we show up – moving in His power and anointing. He wants us to expect the unexpected; believe the unbelievable; walk in His supernatural power. I know for some this may be a challenge because you’ve allowed yourself to settle in complacency – but stretch yourself and get out of the mundane activity of your day-to-day life and expect. I stand on the Word and embrace this scripture for myself and for you. All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the LORD your God (Deut 28:2). Embrace the spirit of expectation; let it become a part of you and watch the Lord move on your behalf. Are you expecting?
