Servants, do what you’re told by your earthly masters. And don’t just do the minimum that will get you by. Do your best. Work from the heart for your real Master, for God, confident that you’ll get paid in full when you come into your inheritance. Keep in mind always that the ultimate Master you’re serving is Christ. The sullen servant who does shoddy work will be held responsible. Being a follower of Jesus doesn’t cover up bad work. Colossians 3:22-25 (Message)
How good are you at following instructions? I can admit that there have been times when I didn’t do so well. It’s not because I felt that I knew more than the one giving me the instructions, or that the task they were asking of me would be detrimental, I just didn’t trust that they had my best interest in mind. As I continue to grow in God, I recognize now that whether I trusted that “master” or not, there is a requirement to do as you’re told. This passage from Colossians 3, reveals that if we are true servants of God, we will also be responsible to serve those who rule on the earth.
God, being omnipresent, sees all that we do – our good and evil; and He also knows our heart towards Him. I challenge myself daily, reminding myself that if I say I love and honor God, how am I not willing to love and honor those that I serve on earth? I know the Word. Today, take time and read this word again, let it simmer and see what the spirit of God is revealing to you. My desire is that we not miss anything that God has for us because we omitted something that’s required – I pray you can receive this in LOVE! Let’s be that ME, the one seeking to be God’s best version of us.
