“But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.”
Have you ever had one of those days where you wish you could go back and clean up all the verbal garbage you released the day before? Most of us have, but the sad thing is that we often repeat the behavior, not considering the harm that we’ve caused others.
Understanding that the tongue is an unruly evil, and what we speak directly correlates to what’s going on in our hearts, how do we stop the poison from being spewed out? As a child, someone told me that before I speak, I should think! That sounds so simple, yet that task does not manifest without discipline. The harsh words that we release could be the very thing that is holding up the manifestation of our heart’s desire, and it has to change.
The solution – have a clean heart, the mind of Christ, operate in the fruit of the spirit, be humble, and keep your conversation clear of unruly evil.
I come to you, Father, in the Name of Jesus, thanking You today for the manifestation of the fruits of the spirit in my life, which causes me to delight. I ask that You continue to keep me in your perfect peace, as I lean and depend on You for the rest of my life. Amen
